The Rules:
A. People who have been tagged must, if they choose to participate, write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question. Please italicize the new question if you do that.
B. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
01. What are your nicknames?
I don't really have any, or at least none that stuck. When my sister Sarah (who is now 40) was a little kid she called me "Daverock" and called herself "Sarock," and at a similar age I referred to myself as "regular David"as opposed to Cousin David (my grandmother's first cousin). Elementary school classmates sometimes called me "Coop."
02. How do you style your hair?
When I was younger I had a Jewfro, but now that it's thinning on the top I have a curl-over.
03. What's new in your life right now?
Although the recession makes the odds of finding a publisher for
I Am My Beloved's longer, and though my writing partner
bethr is on indefinite leave from the project, I am persevering and continue to interview amazing couples. We had initially hoped to interview and photograph all our couples in person, but a tight budget requires that most of the remaining interviews be conducted by phone or video-conference; either the couple will supply a photograph, or we or our future publisher will pay a local photographer to photograph each couple.
04. How many colors are you wearing now?
One: off-white sleeveless t-shirt and gym shorts.
05. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I'm a social introvert, a tad more introverted than extroverted. I sometimes test as 50/50, but a vocational counselor told me that considering how predominantly extroverted the USA is I should consider myself an introvert. I can go on at greater length, but it would only be of interest to temperament buffs.
06. What was the last book you read?
The Age of Shiva by Manil Suri which starts out as historical subcontinent chick lit and half way through becomes a kind of Indian
Sons and Lovers as told from the mother's point of view. Some of its short chapters can stand alone as very short stories.
07. Do you nap a lot?
No. If I get enough sleep at night I don't need to, and if I don't I try not to nap so I can get to bed early enough to not repeat the problem.
08. If the person you secretly like is already taken, what would you do?
Get over it. Besides which
I am taken.
09. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
My poor time management, but even if it more efficient there still would never be enough time to do everything I want and/or need to do, because the therapeutic regimen I must perform to keep my health from deteriorating kills half my waking hours. The isolation that results from that time consuming daily activity is also a source of unhappiness. I hope that federal funding of stem cell research under the Obama administration results in a cure for lymphedema.
10. What's your favorite dessert?
Dried figs and dates.
11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Because of the therapeutic regimen mentioned in #9 above it takes at least two and a half hours and usually three. In the evening it takes at least as long to get to bed and usually longer.
12. What websites do you visit daily?
yahoo, lj, twitter, and Facebook but often they get only a cursory perusal.
13. Do you write fic? What was the last fic you wrote?
Poetry is sometimes classified as fiction. In September I posted a one line poem on Twitter, and it was reposted
here. I don't write prose fiction.
14. Do you like to clean?
No and neither does Shoshana; our cleaning lady cleans here every two weeks.
15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
I don't recall; probably a
nigun (melody) from shul, but I don't recall which.
16. What's the last movie you saw?
I rarely see movies in theaters, because I have to sit with my legs fully extended and elevated in front of me which is not possible in most theaters. I saw
Atonement on cable about a month ago and recommend it.
17. Would you enter a relationship with your ideal partner, even if you knew he/she was seriously involved with/married to someone else and would never leave them?
Maybe if our respective parters were OK with it, but I'm temperamentally more monogamous than polyamorous, and since for Shoshana it would be a deal breaker that's a hypothetical scenario.
18. What is your least favorite thing to do that you have to do everyday?
The therapeutic regimen I mentioned in #9 above.
I know some of my answers repeat, but I'm too lazy to think of a new question, and the repetition highlights the various ways my medical condition affects my life.
